Big Barrel adds Hawke’s Bay brewery to holdings

The owners of liquor store chain Big Barrel have added a Hawke’s Bay brewery and neighbouring restaurant and alehouse to its holdings. 

The circa 50-strong Big Barrel liquor store chain is co-owned by brothers Palwinder and Avtar Singh. A trust association with the brothers have acquired Hawke’s Bay Brewing Co brand and brewery in Napier’s Meeanee.

A new restaurant and alehouse, called Barrel Brothers, is also due to open in a building next to the brewery on the same property around October, according to The New Zealand Herald.

It reported that a trust associated with Big Barrel group has now purchased the entire property at 20 Awatoto Rd from the Donovan family in a sale that settled at the end of February.
