Building and Construction Minister Chris Penk says the government is making it easier to build by unclogging the consenting system, reducing construction costs, and giving builders the support they need.
The government announced last week the final stage of reforms to the Public Works Act to make the purchasing land for much-needed public projects clearer and faster, and included incentive payments of up to $100,000 for landowners to sell early.
It was also cracking down on cowboys by introducing stronger disciplinary powers, new waterproofing licences for wet area bathrooms, and a better complaints process.
And it expected up to 250,000 more building products like plasterboard, insulation, and cladding to become available this year alone through a streamlined Building Product Specifications pathway.
