Vital Healthcare Property Trust says it has received confirmation from Inland Revenue that it can claim a tax deduction on the $214m it spent to internalise its management.
The ruling aligns with the assumptions Vital made when it brought management in-house at the end of 2025 to simplify its structure and retain more value internally.
“As a result of the ruling, Vital currently expects that distributions for at least the next three years will be excluded income to investors, reflecting the trust’s tax position following internalisation,” Vital said.
Vital invests in healthcare properties in New Zealand and Australia, including private hospitals and ambulatory care facilities.
