The $39m Hawthorndale Care Village in Invercargill has officially opened.
The community funded aged care facility, which has a focus on dementia care, has 10 two-bedroom retirement villas, with the option of adding more, and 13 care houses with 86 beds.
The facility at 621 Tay Street draws inspiration from the Dutch dementia village, The Hogeweyk, and is managed by The Hawthorndale Care Village Charitable Trust.
