Millennium & Copthorne completes $32m Mayfair purchase

Millennium & Copthorne Hotels New Zealand Limited has completed its purchase of The Mayfair Hotel Christchurch.

The national hotel operator said on Wednesday that it had bought the luxury hotel, sold by Mayfair Luxury Hotels Limited and the Stapley family, for $31.9m plus GST, after announcing the deal in October last year.

“The purchase price was settled with the drawdown of $30m under the company bank facility and the balance via available funds. A transition to a Millennium & Copthorne brand will be carried out over the months following completion and will be announced in due course,” said Millennium & Copthorne.

The property at 55 Victoria St opened in mid-2022 and has 67 guest rooms and suites, a cocktail bar, conference and meeting facilities, and a café and kitchen.
