Two large housing projects are among the first three schemes to be approved for assessment under the government’s Fast-track Approvals Act application.
Vineway’s Delmore development includes 1,250 residential dwellings in Auckland and claims to contribute approximately $249.5m to GDP, generating around 1,870 full time jobs.
The Maitahi Village proposal at Nelson from CCKV Maitai Development includes around 180 residential dwellings, 50 being iwi-led housing, a commercial centre, and a retirement village with approximately 194 townhouses and 36 in-care facility units.
“A competing applications test will be undertaken, and provided there are no competing applications identified, an expert consenting panel will be established to make decisions on the projects and impose any necessary environmental conditions,” said Infrastructure Minister Chris Bishop and Regional Development Minister Shane Jones in a statement on Thursday.
The third project was Port of Auckland’s Bledisloe North Wharf and Fergusson North Berth extension.
