The value of non-residential building consents totalled $8.9bn in the year to April 2025, down 7.6% from the previous 12 months.
Stats NZ said in its latest consents data released on Friday that the data can be influenced by influenced by price changes, with non-residential construction prices were up 1.8% in the year ended March 2025.
In the year ended April 2025, the non-residential building types with the highest values were:
- offices, administration, and public transport buildings at $1.8bn, up 14%
- storage buildings at $1.3bn, down 10%
- factories at $1.2bn, down 6.1%
