Accom, hospo sales rise into summer…

Accommodation and food and beverage services had higher seasonally adjusted sales in the December 2024 quarter, compared to the previous three months.

The latest retail trade survey from Stats NZ showed accommodation sales grew by 11%, or $141m, with price effects included, which was the biggest industry movement.

Food and beverage services were up by 3.3%, or $130m.

The largest regional increases in retail sales values were in Auckland, Otago and Canterbury.
