Rosewood appoints luxury Northland accommodation leader

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has appointed André Miethig as director of operations at Rosewood Kauri Cliffs at Matauri Bay.

Miethig takes over from Fraser Donald Wong, who was appointed last year but has left the position.

Rosewood said Miethig started the role on Monday, bringing to the Northland property more than two decades of international experience in luxury hospitality, having held senior leadership roles across a range of globally recognised brands and independent resorts.

“Most recently, Miethig served as resort manager at COMO Laucala Island, where he oversaw operations across the 1,400-hectare private island estate while leading a team of more than 300 colleagues,” Rosewood said. 

“During this time he contributed to the strengthening of service standards and supported preparations for a significant redevelopment and rebranding project scheduled for 2026.”

Rosewood manages the Robertson family’s three luxury lodges in New Zealand: Rosewood Kauri Cliffs, Rosewood Cape Kidnappers at Hawke’s Bay, and Rosewood Matakauri at Queenstown

Miethig said that preserving the past while shaping the future “has always been a guiding principle for me, and it aligns perfectly with Rosewood’s sense of place and the spirit of this family-owned property”.

Rosewood Kauri Cliffs’s 26 suites and villas sit within 6,000 acres of native forest, farmland and pink-shelled shores.
